, or “wash line,” refers to the liquid fill level of a measuring device such as a jigger or a piece of glassware. Proper care should be taken when using measuring to achieve accuracy and consistency. To fill “to tension” means that the meniscus forms over the top of the jigger. See Jigger. This becomes essential when utilizing classic-style jiggers that have no indicator line present. “Wash line” can also refer to liquid fill level in a piece of glassware. The wash line should never reach the lip of the glass but instead have a “collar,” or sufficient space from the rim to prevent spilling when carrying the drink.
