Reed, Ben

From The Oxford Companion to Spirits & Cocktails

(1972–), one of London’s best-known bartenders, helped pioneer the role of cocktail consultant in the United Kingdom. Reed rose to prominence as manager of Met Bar, which replaced the Atlantic Bar & Grill as the highest-profile cocktail venue in late 1990s London. His cocktail column for the Times’ magazine and Shaker Maker series for BBC TV helped bring turn-of-the-century cocktail culture to a wider British audience. In 1999, Reed cofounded International Playboy Bartenders (IPBartenders), the United Kingdom’s first cocktail consultancy. The author of fourteen books, including
