Ankrah, Douglas
From The Oxford Companion to Spirits & Cocktails
(1970–), is a British bartender and founder of London Academy of Bartenders (LAB) and Townhouse, two London bars that became famous in the late 1990s as breeding grounds for new bartending talent thanks to their extensive cocktail lists and high standards of service. Ankrah is also the creator of the Porn Star Martini, a 1990s classic made with vanilla-infused vodka, champagne, and passion fruit liqueur, which can still be found on cocktail menus the world over. A former manager and tender at influential 1990s bars including Planet Hollywood, the Hard Rock Café, and Dick’s Bar at the Atlantic Bar & Grill, Ankrah now works as a bar consultant and in brand innovation. He is also the author of Shaken and Stirred: Douglas Ankrah’s Cocktails. See Atlantic Bar & Grill.
