retort
From The Oxford Companion to Spirits & Cocktails
is a chamber placed between the still and the condenser that forces the vapor to bubble through liquid (either wash or condensed distillate), thus forcing the heavier compounds it contains to condense and making for a stronger distillate. See doubler, thumper, keg, and retort.
