Difford, Simon

From The Oxford Companion to Spirits & Cocktails

(1965–), is a British drinks entrepreneur and publisher of Difford’s Guide, one of the world’s most visited websites about spirits, cocktails, and bars. After an early venture in the frozen-fish business, Difford launched his first drinks wholesale company, Little Tipple, in 1989, before selling it to Coe Vintners in 1995. In 1997, he launched a magazine, CLASS, which quickly established itself as the voice of the UK bar trade, before selling it to William Reed Business Media in 2001 (it is now operated by Drinks International). Later the same year, Difford launched the Diffordsguide drinks book series, which includes Diffordsguide Cocktails, a compendium of more than three thousand recipes that remains a key reference book for bartenders worldwide. The digital version followed in 2010. Difford also founded London Cocktail Week, a festival now owned and operated by ABV Global.See also cocktails on the internet.
